Disappointed by Chiropractic Care? Don’t Give Up on It Yet
By Dr. Andrew Biggs, DC | Principled Chiropractic | Royal Palm Beach, FL
If you tried chiropractic care once, left disappointed, and decided it simply doesn’t work, you are not alone. We hear this story often. Consider whether the conclusion you reached is a fair one.
Imagine someone has a poor experience with a dentist. The office was rushed, the treatment was impersonal, and the problem came back. Would that person conclude that dental care doesn’t work and never see a dentist again? Of course not. They would recognize that the problem was that particular office, and they would keep looking until they found a dentist whose approach and standards they trusted.
Chiropractic deserves the same fairness.
Chiropractic offices differ far more than most people realize. The profession includes many techniques, philosophies, and styles of practice, and the experience you have in one office can be very different from the experience in another.
Many offices rely heavily on modalities such as heat, electrical stimulation, ultrasound, and massage. These can provide short-term comfort, and they have a role in some situations. However, they are not chiropractic adjustments, and they do not correct the position of the spine. A patient can attend a number of visits, receive a great deal of passive therapy, and walk out feeling pleasantly relaxed without anything structural having changed. When the pain returns, it is easy to conclude that chiropractic failed, when in fact the care may never have addressed the cause.
Other offices adjust the area that hurts without first performing a thorough analysis of the entire spine, measuring what is actually out of position, or tracking whether it improves. Without that information, there is no way to know whether the care is working.
At Principled Chiropractic, our approach is different. NeuroStructural care begins with a detailed examination to identify the specific structural shifts in your spine that are creating neurological interference. Adjustments are precise and targeted to those findings, not simply to wherever you feel pain. We reassess objectively along the way so that you can see whether your spine is changing, and we build a plan with a clear goal rather than open-ended visits.
If your earlier experience left you discouraged, a few questions can help you evaluate any office you consider next:
Will I receive a thorough structural examination before care begins? Will my adjustments be specific to my findings? How will progress be measured and shared with me? Will I be given a plan with a defined goal and timeline?
A good chiropractor will welcome those questions.
One disappointing visit does not mean your body cannot respond. It may only mean you have not yet found the right approach. If you have been on the fence about trying again, we invite you to come in for a complimentary consultation. There is no obligation. You will receive an honest assessment, a clear explanation of what we find, and a straightforward answer about whether we can help.
