How Chiropractic Can Help

Most people think of chiropractors as back doctors. Although we address the entire body, we have an unsurpassed knowledge of the spine and back. 85% of Americans will experience back pain at some point in their lifetime and half of those people will have recurring back pain. To understand the significance of this we have to understand the significance of pain. Pain is your body’s way of telling you there is something wrong and that you need to do something to fix it. When you burn your finger, the pain nerves in your finger send a message (PAIN!) to your brain that tells you to pull your finger away from whatever burned it. This happens for two reasons. First, it stops the burning from further injuring your finger. It also acts as a reminder to avoid that from happening again.

Back pain is not always as simple. The back pain is telling you that you need to do something to fix whatever is causing the back pain. That is where it gets tricky. It is not always so obvious what is causing the back pain. Just like if you were to ignore pulling your finger off of whatever is burning it, if you ignore your back pain the body could sustain serious damage. Since it is not always clear what is causing your back pain, it is an excellent idea to seek out a back specialist who is highly trained in identifying causes of back pain. Our clinic specializes in identifying and treating a wide variety of causes of back pain.

There are many causes of back pain. Some of the causes of back pain include: sprained ligaments, strained muscles, ruptured disks, irritated joints, and vertebral subluxation (joint misalignment). While sports injuries or sports accidents can cause back pain, sometimes the simplest of movements for example, picking up a pencil from the floor can have painful results. This is usually due to physical stress in that area that eventually built up to the point where something as simple as bending over could trigger excruciating back pain. In addition, arthritis, poor posture, obesity, and psychological stress can cause or complicate back pain. Back pain can also directly result from disease of the internal organs, such as kidney stones, kidney infections, blood clots, or bone loss. As you can see, there is a vast array of causes of back pain, all of which we are trained to identify in this clinic.backpainn

Back pain is not just a condition that older people experience. Back pain can affect children as well. Since back pain recurs in 50% of people it is important to address it as soon as possible. An even better idea is to try and prevent back pain from ever happening. Some of the things you can do to prevent back pain from occurring are: maintain a healthy diet and weight, remain active, avoid prolonged inactivity or bed rest, warm up or stretch before exercising and other physical activities, such as gardening, maintain proper posture, wear comfortable, low-heeled shoes, sleep on a mattress of medium firmness to minimize any curve in your spine, lift with your knees and keep the object close to your body without twisting, work with your doctor of chiropractic to ensure that your computer workstation is ergonomically correct, and practice spinal hygiene. Spinal hygiene is similar to dental hygiene. It involves visiting a chiropractor periodically to ensure your back is both structurally and functionally in optimal shape.

If you are like most people who suffer from back pain then your pain is the result of a vertebral subluxation. Chiropractic is the only profession to address this issue. In fact, after an extensive study of all currently available care for low back problems, a federal government research organization called the Agency for Health Care Policy and Research recommended that low back pain sufferers choose the most conservative care first. And it recommended the chiropractic adjustment as the only safe and effective, drugless form of initial professional treatment for acute low back problems.

Our approach to treating back pain is gentle, safe, effective. At our clinic we will do everything possible to get you better so you can avoid taking unnecessary medications and undergoing unnecessary surgeries.

Stay Chiropractic Healthy

Chiropractic not only restores the natural motion in each spinal segment, thus enabling that area to enjoy it’s full movement potential, but also enable healthier full body motion for a more functional and capable life.

Chiropractic enables the weight bearing abilities of the spine and skeletal structure to be optimized. This is critical whether you are lifting a bag of groceries, a toddler, or a heavy barbell.

Praesent dolor quam, tincidunt in sollicitudin sit amet, volutpat sed velit. Nullam non neque ipsum.

Having your spine in a balanced and neutral position allows your body to hold itself upright with greater ease and with less resistance against gravity. This enables your muscular system to be more relaxed throughout the day. Coupled with more complete, fluid movement and efficient weight bearing, your body as a whole will enjoy a new level of efficiency.

By removing interfering factors in the nervous system, it is able to heal your body more efficiently and effectively from a cellular level.

Your body is constantly adapting to internal and external environmental factors. Your nervous system controls this adaptation. By improving nervous system function, adaptability also improves which keeps your body in a healthier state no matter what it encounters.

Our mission is to educate and lead as many people as possible toward optimal health.
