How Chiropractic Can Help Arthritis
Specific adjustments and lifestyle modifications can reduce stress, irritation, and inflammation in the joints and neighboring nerves throughout the body. Chiropractic care looks to realign the spinal bones to normalize the neurological response. This process can restore health to the joints and even naturally boost the healing response needed to reduce arthritis.
Arthritis is inflammation of the joints. In your body, cartilage protects your joints by absorbing impact. Cartilage allows you to move freely, smoothly and without pain. If the bony structures that make up a joint are improperly aligned, the cartilage and joint may become inflamed and painful. Chronic stress will cause permanent damage and even joint deformity. Joints of the spine are in close proximity to your spinal cord and nerves. As a result, joint dysfunction will often create nerve dysfunction. The long term consequence of this is spinal stenosis, which may even be untreatable with surgery.
Chiropractic adjustments are usually very gentle and commonly relieve pain. Occasionally, an area being adjusted is very sore and inflamed in which case the mere pressure on that area can be uncomfortable. It is the adjustment that helps the body to heal and become comfortable again.
The joints of the spine are surrounded by a ligament capsule that is filled with a lubricating, nutrient-rich fluid, just like the joints of the fingers. When the two bones that make up the joint are moved into a different position, a bubble of CO2 is pulled out of solution from the liquid and pops. This harmless event is what produces the audible noise during an adjustment.
As soon as the corrective adjustment is made and body balance is restored, muscles begin to relax, blood and oxygen circulation is increased, healing messages are transmitted from the brain to the affected area and the body’s self healing process begins.
Your schedule of care is based on the magnitude and severity of your subluxation and your body’s response to the adjustment. Each person is different and each individual’s healing response is different. We give each practice member an estimate on how long their recovery may take after the initial exam and will have an even better idea after 2 – 3 visits.
This is a common misconception which is not true. It is recommended to complete the care plan that is designed to meet your health goals, despite the fact that many people are symptom-free before correction is complete.
Some people choose to continue with chiropractic care as a lifestyle choice much in the way that they continue to exercise, eat healthy, and brush their teeth. They know that the health of their body as a whole is tied to the health of their spine and nervous system and choose to maintain it.
Absolutely not. In fact, chiropractic care, in its essence, is not a treatment for any specific condition. It is a method of improving the health and function of your spine and nervous system by removing interferences to this area known as subluxations.
Many conditions result from a poorly functioning nervous system. If this is the cause of your problem, then only chiropractic can address the root cause and allow your body to heal is it should. Below are some conditions that have been traced back to subluxations.
Stay Chiropractic Healthy
Chiropractic not only restores the natural motion in each spinal segment, thus enabling that area to enjoy it’s full movement potential, but also enable healthier full body motion for a more functional and capable life.
Chiropractic enables the weight bearing abilities of the spine and skeletal structure to be optimized. This is critical whether you are lifting a bag of groceries, a toddler, or a heavy barbell.
Praesent dolor quam, tincidunt in sollicitudin sit amet, volutpat sed velit. Nullam non neque ipsum.
Having your spine in a balanced and neutral position allows your body to hold itself upright with greater ease and with less resistance against gravity. This enables your muscular system to be more relaxed throughout the day. Coupled with more complete, fluid movement and efficient weight bearing, your body as a whole will enjoy a new level of efficiency.
By removing interfering factors in the nervous system, it is able to heal your body more efficiently and effectively from a cellular level.
Your body is constantly adapting to internal and external environmental factors. Your nervous system controls this adaptation. By improving nervous system function, adaptability also improves which keeps your body in a healthier state no matter what it encounters.
Our mission is to educate and lead as many people as possible toward optimal health.
